Will polymeric sand wash out in heavy ran?2018-04-23T10:34:26-06:00

Polymeric sand should not wash out in a single heavy rain. Now if you have a gutter constantly dumping across the brick with a heavy flow that will washout even the toughest polymeric sand.

What is Poly Sand (Hardening Sand)?2018-04-23T10:35:07-06:00

Polymeric sand is used to fill the joints between pavers, including concrete pavers, brick pavers, and stone pavers. This product is a fine sand combined with additives, usually silica, that, when mixed with water, form a binding agent. These binders lock the sand particles together, which helps lock all the pavers together.

Why use Poly Sand?2018-04-23T10:37:11-06:00

Plain old sand can be used to fill the joints between pavers, but polymeric sand offers many advantages: Improves durability: The binding agents in this product help lock the pavers together. This will give your installation more strength over the long haul. Polymeric sand also reduces the amount of water that will wash between the pavers and down into the base materials. This will help keep the foundation of your project sturdy as well. Prevents washouts: A heavy rain won’t wash all of the sand out of the joints between pavers if you use polymeric sand. With plain old sand, this is a common problem. Deters weeds: Weeds are amazingly resilient and can grow almost anywhere. Using this product won’t guarantee that weeds won’t grow in your new walkway or patio, but it will help considerably. Plain sand is a much more inviting home for weeds than polymeric sand. Resistance to ants: Ants will have a much more difficult time getting into and making homes in the spaces between your pavers if you use polymeric sand. Colors. Polymeric sand comes in a variety of colors, usually in different shades of gray and beige. Choose the color that goes best with your pavers.

What benefits will I get by using interlocking pavers?2023-03-03T17:55:41-06:00

Interlocking pavers are strong and durable materials that can withstand heavy loads and prolonged exposure to changing weather. They are also versatile and extremely decorative.

What depth for excavation for paver patios?2018-04-23T10:38:22-06:00

12″ We put down 8 inches of stone, 1 inch of sand and then the pavers.

What type of edge restraint do we use?2023-03-03T17:42:05-06:00

Snap Edge or Beast Edging are proven to be the best edge restraints on the market and have proven them self over the years.

Virgin Material vs. Recycled Material2018-04-23T10:39:29-06:00

We use virgin stone which has a stronger load bearing capability than recycled stone and drains much better. Recycled material is made up of old crushed up concrete. It’s not the crushed concrete that is the problem, it’s all the other adulterated garbage (i.e. dirt, clay brick, grass clippings and sometimes auto fluff) that’s mixed with it that causes issues.

Angular Sand vs. Torpedo Sand2018-04-23T10:40:11-06:00

We use angular sand ASTM-C-33 cement sand. Round sand moves freely like ball bearings and angular sand locks together to give you a more solid setting bed.

What is this white substance on my pavers?2023-03-03T17:41:23-06:00

It is most likely efflorescence. Efflorescence is nothing more than salt that has wicked its way up through the pavement and solidified on the surface of your brick. While it is unsightly, it is not physically harmful to your paver in any way.

How can efflorescence be removed?2023-03-03T17:41:38-06:00

Once the salts are introduced into the pavement system, the only way to remove the efflorescence is to get rid of the salts. For this reason, to develop a plan, you must first determine the source of the salts and eliminate them if possible. Once the salts are gone, the efflorescence will stop with time as nature cleanses your pavement. The amount of time it takes is directly proportional to the amount of salt in the pavement. While the efflorescence you see can easily be washed away with clear water and a brush, any remaining salt in the pavement will resurface after the next rain.

How much maintenance do pavers need?2023-03-03T17:34:57-06:00

With proper design and installation, the only maintenance issues you need to consider are sweeping sand replenishment, possible moss growth, vehicle fluid stains and cleaning and sealing the pavers.

What is sweeping sand?2023-03-03T17:40:20-06:00

The elements of rain, wind, and sunlight keep your pavers clean. They also tend to displace the sand between your pavers which could ultimately lead to a failure of your pavement. Be sure to check your sand annually and re-sweep new sand into the voids if necessary. TIP: This maintenance can be eliminated by the use of polymeric sweeping sand. The particles of this special sand bind together virtually eliminating sand loss as well as weed growth.

Why is there moss / organic growth?2023-03-03T17:39:36-06:00

In a generally damp area, low levels of sunlight and/or wind can create a situation conducive to moss and organic growth on some types of pavers. Some times this is desirable to achieve an old world look. We can help you plan for, or plan to avoid, this situation. This is one of very few reasons in which a sealer should be considered for a genuine clay paver.

Can vehicle fluid stains be removed?2023-03-03T17:36:06-06:00

If you are using your clay pavers for a driveway area, it is very probable that eventually you will have oil spots. EaCo Chem has a cleaner for this and if if the stain is extremely stubborn the brick(s) affected can be replaced. Note that our Cityline Series pavers are finished on both sides which would allow you to simply turn them over and re-install them in the event that the stain cannot be removed..

What are the benefits from cleaning and sealing?2023-03-03T17:34:04-06:00

To ensure the maximum longevity of your project, we recommend cleaning and sealing concrete pavers every 5-7 years. If you have a Unilock Enduracolor or Endura color Plus pavers, we recommend having the pavers cleaned within the 1st 4 years. If you have standard pavers, we recommend having them cleaned and sealed the next year after they are installed.
